The rules of engagement

By purchasing any product from The Dietitian's Vault ("the Vault") you agree to these Terms & Conditions. The Vault is operated by Valpre Huisamen Inc, a South African Personal Liability Company (CIPC 2024/703270/21). If you do not agree to these terms, please do not purchase.

1. What you're buying

The Vault sells digital downloadable PDF handbooks for registered dietitians and allied health professionals. Each handbook is available as a Complete Bundle or as individual parts (Clinical Guide, Patient Handout Pack, or Recipe Collection).

Products are delivered instantly by digital download via our platform provider (Gumroad). Once your payment is processed, your download links are available immediately and emailed to the address you provided at checkout.

2. Single-clinician licence

2.1 What you CAN do

• Use the handbook content in your individual clinical practice
• Print patient handouts and patient-facing materials to share directly with your own patients
• Email patient handouts (e.g. plate methods, food lists, recipes) to your own patients as part of their care plan
• Reference the clinical content in your own clinical notes and patient education (attribution not required for standard-of-care use)
• Print the handbook for your own personal reference

2.2 What you CANNOT do

• Share the PDFs with colleagues, classmates, or practice partners
• Upload the PDFs to clinic shared drives, team Dropboxes, WhatsApp groups, or any shared network
• Sell, resell, or redistribute the PDFs in any form
• Remove, alter, or obscure the buyer-information stamping, brand footers, or copyright notices
• Use the content in commercial products, courses, or publications that you sell without prior written permission
• Make the PDFs publicly accessible on websites, blogs, social media, or educational platforms
• Use the content to create competing nutrition resources for resale

3. Team licence option

If you need to share materials across multiple clinicians (e.g. a dietetic department, clinic, or training institution), please contact us about a Team Licence. This provides legitimate multi-clinician access at a discounted per-user rate. Email hello@thedietitiansvault.com for pricing and terms.

4. Intellectual property

All content in the Vault — including clinical guides, patient handouts, recipes, illustrations, and design — is protected by South African and international copyright law. Valpre Huisamen Inc retains all intellectual property rights. Your purchase grants a licence to use, not ownership.

5. Clinical disclaimer

Specifically:

• You are responsible for applying clinical judgment when using the content
• Recommendations should be individualised to your patient's medical history, comorbidities, and preferences
• Clinical guidelines evolve — you are responsible for ensuring the advice you give patients reflects current practice
• The Vault is not liable for clinical outcomes arising from the use of our materials
• Patient-facing handouts are educational supplements, not diagnostic or treatment tools

6. Refunds

All sales are final. Because the products are digital and delivered instantly, we do not offer refunds. Please review the product description carefully before purchase. See our Refund Policy for details.

7. Updates

Every purchase includes 12 months of free updates from the date of purchase. When clinical guidelines change (e.g. ADA annual updates, new ESPEN consensus papers, KDOQI revisions), we revise the handbook and email you a link to the updated version at no charge.

8. Service availability

We use third-party infrastructure (Gumroad, Netlify, Spacemail) for delivery. Occasional service interruptions may occur. We are not liable for short-term outages, but we will make reasonable effort to restore service quickly.

9. Warranty disclaimer

The Vault is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. While we make every effort to ensure content accuracy and currency, we do not warrant that the handbooks are error-free or suitable for any specific patient or clinical situation.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by South African law, Valpre Huisamen Inc's total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Vault is limited to the amount you paid for the specific product in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved in South African courts. If you purchased from outside South Africa, this does not affect any mandatory consumer protection rights you have under your local law.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects changes. Existing purchases are governed by the Terms in force at the time of purchase. Continued use of the Vault after updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
